Friends of
Dyslexia Inc.

Friends of Dyslexia started as a grass roots organization in 2008, it moved to provincially registered charity in 2010. Friends of Dyslexia Inc. is proud to announce that as of December 16, 2015 we are the only non-profit registered charity under the Income Tax Act that raises funds for services related to dyslexia in Canada. 80% of raised funds go directly to people with dyslexia for services.

The International Dyslexia Association Ontario

IDA Ontario assists people with dyslexia, their families and the communities that support them by: Providing support information and up-to-date resources and training, creating public awareness of dyslexia and advocating for policy change, responding to general public inquiries related to dyslexia, and maintaining an online directory of professionals, clinics and schools.

Dyslexia Canada

Dyslexia Canada currently is the only national registered charity that exclusively works with people that have dyslexia. They support families across Canada that are impacted by dyslexia.

They have resources, tools and programs for children and young people, caregivers, teachers and educators and the general public.

H&H Disability Tax Credit Advisor

The Disability Tax Credit (DTC) is a program administered by the Canada Revenue Agency which can provide a tax refund for individuals who are deemed eligible, or for a supporting family member. If you have been denied for the Disability Tax Credit allow us the opportunity to evaluate your situation. They have over a decade of experience in helping people successfully apply for the DTC and get access to the tax benefits they deserve!

Mind Matters Clinic

Mind Matters Clinic is a team of clinical psychologists and social workers who are trained to assess and treat mental health conditions. They offer individual therapy and psychological assessments for adults and children, as well as group therapy sessions focused on helping build skills to overcome challenges at home, in the classroom, and at work.

Referral: 

Dr. Powers is a Licensed Psychologist in the province of Manitoba as well as the state of Arizona. Her practice focuses on comprehensive diagnostic assessments of children and adolescents exhibiting symptoms of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, learning disabilities, intellectual impairment, anxiety, memory struggles, depression, executive functioning issues, behavioral difficulties, and giftedness.

Irlen Syndrome Foundation

It is not an optical problem. It is a problem with the brain’s ability to process visual information. This problem tends to run in families and is not currently identified by standardized educational, psychological, optometric, or medical tests. This problem can manifest itself differently for each individual. Irlen Syndrome is not remediable and is often a lifetime barrier to learning and performance.

Bright Solutions for Dyslexia

Susan Barton is recognized internationally as an expert in dyslexia. She is in the Hall of Honor at the headquarters of the International Dyslexia Association.

Her goal is to help parents, teachers, and others understand dyslexia—so they can provide the right type of help.

Jordan's Principle

Jordan's Principle is named in memory of Jordan River Anderson. He was a young boy from Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba. Jordan's Principle makes sure all First Nations children living in Canada can access the products, services and supports they need, when they need them. Funding can help with a wide range of health, social and educational needs, including the unique needs that First Nations Two-Spirit and LGBTQQIA children and youth and those with disabilities may have.

Red Ladder

Red Ladder Optimized Learning, offers comprehensive, practically useful psychological and psychoeducational assessment services in Winnipeg and in communities around Manitoba. They diagnose Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities such as Dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disabilities, and many other conditions, as well as emotional, relational, and stress-related difficulties.

Chris E. Tysiaczny (M.A., Ph.D., C. Psych.) is a Registered Psychologist and Partner in Ladder Optimized Learning. Dr. Tysiaczny’s practice includes psychological and psycho-educational assessment and psychological treatment for difficulties with anxiety, mood, learning disorders, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, FASD, and various health-related concerns for children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Tysiaczny’s approach to treatment involves the use of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Client-Centered approaches to help empower individuals to make positive changes in their lives.

Microsoft accessibility applications can help increase focus, concentration, and understanding—and include tools to improve reading and writing skills. This page lists learning-related accessibility tools to help all Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 users. They offer support for people who have learning disabilities and dyslexia or anyone who wants to make the learning experience on their device easier.
